DSM Solutions

Use ACs with Fan and set temperature at 28o degree Celsius. Save up to 22%

By setting the Air conditioner a  couple of degrees higher and circulation fan blowing cool air around uses a lot less electricity than just setting the air conditioner to a lower temperature. Test results by Tokyo Electric Power Co. indicate that raising the air conditioner's thermostat from 26o C to 28o C and using an electric fan in this way can reduce electricity consumption by up to 22 percent.

Buildings

  • To enhance the reflection and for making energy saving possible :-

    • Paint the roof tops white

    • Paint the walls with white or lighter shades

  • Install window shading - patio covers, awnings, and solar window screens to shade your home from the sun.

Eliminate avoidable wastage of energy

  • Instead of putting appliances e.g. AC, TV, Computers, Mobile Charger on sleep/ stand by mode, switch off completely when not in use. (Save: 5%)

  • Switch off lights, fans , computers, monitors, printers etc. when not in use.

Refrigerators

  • Allow the food stuff to attain room temperature before storing inside the refrigerator

  • Do not allow the refrigerator to frost. Whenever the frost gets more than 5mm thick, defrost the refrigerator.

  • Defrost your refrigerators for half an hour during Peak load Period i.e. 6-10 pm

  • Washing Machine

  • It is better to wash clothes putting full load on the machine. Because the power consumption of the machine is same whether it is operated on full load or partial load.

  • Always use cold water to rinse clothes. (Save: 4 %)

  • Avoid using Tumble Drier if the weather is suitable for hanging clothes out.

  • Geysers

  • Choose a geyser with a thermostat and set temperature according to season.

  • Always use a water heater to suit you family’s need. Avoid oversized geysers.

  • Use Gas Geysers as using energy in a direct form is more efficient than using electricity.

  • Lights

    • Fluorescent Tube Lights (FTL) and Compact Fluorescent Lamps (CFL) consume less than half of the electricity and the light emitted by these lamps do not release any heat as compared to incandescent.

    • Minimize or Avoid use of incandescent lamps to save energy.

    Peak hour Usage

    • In order to avoid power outages reduce load during peak hours i.e. 6-10 pm. Shift usage of washing machines, geysers, irons, water pumps etc from peak to normal hours.
